Breaking Down With Jennifer Ross of Swoon

My typical day revolves around my business, Swoon, my dog, Daisy, and life as a Type 1 Diabetic. I live in New York and am always on the go, working, eating and enjoying life in the city!

The first thing that I do when I wake up is check my phone – but not for the reasons you think. I’m a Type 1 Diabetic and use a really cool “closed loop system” that tracks my blood sugar and connects directly to my insulin pump all via my phone. So the first thing that I do when I wake up is check my blood sugar and make sure all is good.

I always start the day with iced coffee, no matter the season, and of course add in our zero sugar Swoon Simple Syrup.
— 7:30AM
I try to get a quick workout in or take my dog, Daisy, for a walk along the West Side Highway.
— 8AM
Work begins! Usually with a bunch of emails and Google Meetings.
— 9AM
Lunchtime. I’m a big salad person for lunch so I will walk to pick one up (Chopt’ is a favorite and not just because they carry Swoon) and check into a Swoon account and see how our line of zero sugar lemonades and iced teas are doing.

More meetings…

I always have an afternoon pick me up and am loving our Swoon Matcha Lemonade. It has just the perfect amount of caffeine without keeping me up at night.
— 3PM
Daisy usually lets me know when she is hungry for dinner :) After her dinner I take her out for a quick walk.
— 6PM
Dinner. I love to try to recreate dishes that I love, but with a healthy twist (less sugar, less oil, etc). I’ve been really into Thai food recently with Shirataki noodles.. But before I sit down to eat, I check my blood sugar (aka look at my phone) and do my insulin and then I enjoy!
