From Lucie

From Lucie was founded by French expat Lucie Franc de Ferriere, who began baking cakes in her Lower East Side apartment during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. Flash forward to 2022, her small project of dreamy organic cakes — each topped with local flowers — has culminated to an East Village brick and mortar bakery. We asked this one-woman-bakeshop to take us on a day in her life.

Breaking Down With Lucie Franc de Ferriere

I wake up, go straight into the shower and dress up in the dark to not wake up my fiance. So I tend to end up with unlatching socks more often than not.

I then walk my dog Dalida in the park and come back home and feed her.

I then either make myself an earl grey tea or make myself an oat matcha even though it upsets my stomach but I just love it too much.
— 7AM
I look over my emails and try to get through as many as possible but I usually get a call from one of my contractors to come and check out the future bakery and help with something.
— 8AM
I look over my orders for the day and start preparing everything and decorate my cakes with flowers to have the first cake pick up ready for 12.30pm.
— 9 AM
Drop off my last orders for the day and start cleaning up the kitchen.

— 5PM
I walk my dog and prepare a list of ingredients and flowers I need for the following day.
— 6PM
Do some last email and sometimes some late night baking or go out for an event.
— 7PM
Go to sleep and do it all over again the next day.
