Anthony Keith

Bed Stuy, Brooklyn

Grandchamps is celebrating its 8-year anniversary of being THE neighborhood spot in Bed Stuy this month. And to celebrate they are putting their new beer and wine license to work! They are serving classic Haitian beer, Prestige, and are keeping the mimosa’s flowing during their new breakfast/brunch hours. Anthony, the newest co-owner of Granchamps, has been working nonstop to get breakfast/brunch rolling during the week. Anthony started at Grandchamps working front of house and is now running the show! He is a great example of how this business promotes growth through its employees and community.

What’s your full name and where are you from?

Anthony Keith, 36 from Baltimore, Maryland

What is your title and where do you work?

I'm the General Manager and co-owner of Grandchamps and the co-owner and Operations Manager of GC Bakery.
Was food a big part of your upbringing?

Food played a big role around holidays and celebrations. Every family member had their specialities and would be requested to bring it to the party.

What are your earliest memories of dining out?

Haha, Pizza Hut and McDonald's. I'm from that era of Ronald McDonald being on-site to greet you and take pictures.

If you could give a piece of advice to someone who wanted to pursue your career, what would it be?

To be mentally prepared, disciplined, and develop healthy useful practices of meditation and affirmations!
How has New York influenced your Haitian cuisine?

Our Haitian dishes on the menu we keep true to the culture or else we would have some problems. For the other dishes we've pulled influences from our experiences from different regions of the U.S.

What's your favorite dish/drink on the menu?

My favorite dish, hmm, I would say the Shrimp & Mayi Moulin [Haitian Grits]. And for drinks, I enjoy the Watermelon Love - it's pretty refreshing.

What is your favorite place to go out and eat at and what are you ordering?

I don't really go out to eat much - but I do like to order from Calexico weekly for their chips and guac and or pollo asado burrito or quesadilla.

What shoes are you rocking during service?

UGG has some very comfortable sneakers that I mainly wear.

Anything new and exciting coming up for Grandchamps?

We've obtained our beer and wine license, so we're excited to offer Prestige [a Haitian beer] and other selections -- and we'll be celebrating year 8 this summer!
